A Day to Remember
This morning I went to the Tokyo Fish Market. This has been one of the highlights of my trip thus far. Whoa! The sights, smells, and people made this an experience that I will never forget. It was worth getting up at 4:15 a.m. The tuna fish auction was a total trip!
This afternoon I attended a seminar on Peace Education. One of the speakers was an eighty-nine year old gentleman named Koji Ikeda. His speech was one that I will remember for the rest of my life. Mr. Ikeda is a survivor of the Hiroshima atomic bomb tragedy. During his speech, you could hear a pin drop. Every single person in the room was mesmerized with his amazing tale.
What a day! I am exhausted. Oh yeah, remember that typhoon I told you about yesterday? Well, it’s here today! We’re talking winds so strong that the rain actually comes at you horizontally.
I heard it’s supposed to clear up by tomorrow. I hope so, because it’s my one and only free day. I am supposed to go to Kamakura. That’s where the second largest Buddha in the world is located.
Well, I need to get to sleep. Oyasu minasai.-good night.
